First Professional Development Workshop for the Alumni of the International Forum of Young Scholars of Russian and East European Jewry, August 4 - 5, 2008, Budapest/Hungary

Central European University, BudapestThe Leonid Nevzlin Research Center for Russian and East European Jewry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, in cooperation with the Simon Dubnow Institute for Jewish History and Culture at Leipzig University and the Jewish Studies Program at Central European University (Budapest)  organized the first professional development workshop for alumni of the Forum in Budapest, Hungary on August 4-5, 2008. The local hosts in Budapest were Prof. Andras Kovacs and Dr. Michael Miller from Central European University.

The purpose of the workshop was to promote the research and career progress of the Forum alumni. It focused on effective writing, publication and teaching in our field. The workshop was "bare-bones" in that it did not include local tours, etc. The limited time in Budapest was maximized for professional work, led by the group of senior scholars that included Professors Dan Diner, Zvi Gitelman, Israel Bartal, and Andras Kovacs.
